The finances of New York City

the crazyman thinks that his idea on having everybody pay the same income
tax is correct. everybody in the city uses the city in various ways and
if they earn it in the city, then they should be able to pay the city
some of that money.
The crazyman is not so sure that the ideas with the property tax are correct. what good is lowering them slightly when many organizations who really should be paying have gotten the city to forgive them those taxes.
With the transportation. eks a bit needs to be done.
currently there is talk about raising the fare from $1.50 per ride to $2.00 per ride. Realistically though the average paid per ride currently in the city is $1.05 ops.
The only people who will be really charged by this change is the poor Those with money either
1) put more than $15 on their card at a time and get 10 percent discount. (If you put $15 on your card, it will be raised by 16.50 instead of $15)
2
or they get unlimited which end up costing somewhere between $4.50 per day and $2.10 per day (or lower if you get the yearly)

In someways it would be better if they city could acutally card different if people are using the system for work or for personal usage. There are a few issues involved with that but the crazyman feels that when we are using the transportation for work then we should be able to pay full fare for it while when we use it for personal reasons we should be able to get a discount. Partitally, this is because when we use it for personal reasons, we are not generating anything during the transporation but the city might get to be better because of it. aka we are making an extra trip to go shopping on the way home or we are visiting friends (either helping the economy or helping the quality of life index of the city while doing the transit.)

current crazy ideas…

In the past the crazyman has complained about the lack of arrests that Israel was doing. Currently, it appears that they have mended their ways and they are now doing a bit of arrests.
What happened in the death of UNRWA worker Iain Hook the crazyman does not know.

First reports sound like the IDF was trying to make an arrest not far away from the UNRWA compound and it turned into an ambush.

Then we hear that Iain had called the IDF before hand because of infiltration into his compound.

We hear he was shot because it looked like he had a gun but then hear that he was shot in the back.

Maybe the crazyman needs to get better sources of information. It sounds to weird.

The crazyman wrote out on LGF that the IDF should be armed with more cameras and not a person responded or said boo.

war in iraq?

Unfortunatly, the crazyman feelings before seeing the story was that something like this was possible. They used suicide bombers and silkworm missles to take out the US navy. I guess they did not include things like the sunburners which cost more than silkworms (which Iran currently has)
This is another commentary that the war that is being planned for Nov 6th may not be a full layup.

biking

well, luckily the crazyman has not been run off the road badly on a bike but … rumor in New York is that an important member of the community was recently killed by a truck in israel while biking.
Who needs enemies with drivers like these?

blank these military guys

What the !*$# If you can fire a missile at a car, why can;t you just shot out the tires and then force the people out of the car and arrest them and spirt them away?

As it stands, it sounds like Rabbi Sachs commentary (in agreement with comments on Tikkun) may actually be on target.
The only issue is that he posted it in the Labour Guardian paper as opposed to the torygraph. Is it possible that the is trying to move the left from being totally anti-Israel to asking how peace can be achived?

crazy comments of today….

So the wall is falling (that is the southern wall of the Temple mount)
hmmm… what happens if it really does fall in? What happens if the actions cause the whole temple mount to fall? It sounds like currently it is mostly hollow anyhow now yes? This might be a good thing Would the temple mount be rebuilt to be the same issues of two people wanting a section of land or would one or the other find a way to build at a different place. The crazyman thinks that the temple should be moved anyhow a little further to the east. Why put a temple on top of a hill that is no longer a hill up from where you live?

Home depot hopes to avoid affirmative action

Does anybody really care?

IF Stone

Cool quote: from

Eric Alterman “Izzy” Stone used the mainstream media to take their stories further than they wanted to go. Politics aside — and he made his share of major mistakes — he found the stories that went ignored, the implications that went unnoticed, and the truths that people preferred go unarticulated. Now let me tell you something. I knew I.F. Stone. I.F. Stone was a friend of mine. And I’m no I.F. Stone. neither is the crazyman.

NYC Downtown/West Side Access from LIRR

With the issue of the WTC, New York is looking at how people move around the city and how to get more people to downtown. There are a few proposals to upgrade transit many of them cost a bit and the city really does not have money.  Is it not the time to think about doing things a different way?
